Losing weight is a very healthy process, but it has wearisome affects on the skin.
If a person with over-weight loses later on a major weight, this is very healthful
for her. However the previously overfilled and stretched skin will be loosed and
drooped; and this appearance will disturb the person.
The tummy, breast, arms and legs are the most affected areas of the body after a
major weight loss. Even that the medical aesthetic has applications for solving
this problem, for the exceeded sagging the solution must be surgical.
The arm skin will be stretched when you put weight, but when you lose weight, it
is not possible for the skin to have its previous form because it loses its elasticity
with the time. The solution is surgical. Sometimes the sagged upper arms may disturb
the chubby person. Liposuction may be applied to these persons. However, this may
also create loosens on the skin and the excess skin must be removed. For both cases
the surgical methods will give the most permanent and effective result.
Surgery: An arm lift is a surgical procedure that reduces excess sagging skin which
droops downward, and at the same time, if there are also excessive fat tissues removing
them together with the skin. The one and only bothersome feature of arm lifting
surgery is the straight-line formed scar stayed on the back-inner side of the arm.
Unfortunately it is not possible to perform this operation without scars. The scar
can be partly hidden on the inside of your upper arm. When you raise your arms,
this scar will be visible. That’s why the upper arm lift candidate should decide
if the excessive parts or the scar will disturb her much worse.
The surgery process:
The arm lifting surgery will be performed in hospital under general anesthesia.
Like all the surgeries performed under general anesthesia, you should avoid taking
aspirins or similar medicaments which can increase the bleeding during the last
10 days before the operation, and do not eat anything during the six hours right
before the surgery.
The operation time is 2-3 hours. You may stay one night in the hospital. Following
your surgery, small thin tubes may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain
any excess blood or fluid that may collect, and these will be removed in a couple
of days. Dressings or bandages may be applied to your incisions, and your arms may
be wrapped in an elastic bandage or a compression garment to minimize swellings
and bleedings.
These bandages will be removed in three days. After that a stock-formed elastic
bandage will be used for three weeks. It will be not necessary to remove the stitches.
Generally you will have no pain, but if you have some, you may use painkillers to
cure this pain. You can go back to your normal life in three or four days after
the surgery, but you have to avoid carrying heavy things and approximately for two
months you must avoid the heavy activities or exercises.
The scar on the inside of your arm will be swollen and red at the beginning, but
they will be paled in time and will be less significant.
